Yet it's hard to deny the brilliance of the RTX 2080 Ti even if you are a big critic of Nvidia's latest line of GPUs. The RTX 2080 Ti costs a ridiculous fortune and requires a powerful PSU to run, but it's simply the best graphics card ever made for gaming. It's arguably the only graphics card in the RTX line that doesn't get severely affected when ray tracing is enabled in videogames that support it. The RTX 2080 Ti is also undoubtedly the only GPU that can run any game at 60fps on 4K resolution with all the settings maxed out.
Gaming at 4K with any graphics card at full settings was thought to be nearly impossible (if you wanted stable 60fps) until this card arrived on the market last November. Although Nvidia's Ti suffix usually indicates a slight performance increase between the basic model and the Ti one, the difference in specs and performance between the 2080 Ti and the regular 2080 is huge.
Sure, perhaps it's not prudent to invest an additional $400 for the 2080 Ti if the regular one meets most of your requirements, but the difference is there, and it's especially evident when playing with ray tracing enabled or at 4K resolution. It's thanks to a nearly double the amount of CUDA cores, roughly 180 more AI-driven tensor cores, and 12 more ray tracing cores. All that combines with a much larger memory capacity and bandwidth to deliver incredible performance in any kind of test, synthetic or real.
Having said all that, the price of admission for the RTX 2080 Ti is astronomical not just because of its own insane price tag, but because you'll need to give it the required assistance with other components as well. There's no point running this monstrous graphics card if you don't own a 4K monitor, which themselves are extremely pricey. Additionally, you'll want to pair this behemoth with at least a Core i7 8700K or 9700K, invest heavily on a high-quality PC case (these cards are long), and a powerful PSU around the 750 watts mark to make use of its raw power.
This heavy investment is the biggest negative with this graphics card. Board partners like ASUS, MSI, Zotac, Gigabyte, EVGA, and others further make things more complicated with their elevated prices due to custom cooler designs and factory overclocked specs.
Nevertheless, this is an undeniably powerful piece of tech that is streets ahead of anything else on the market right now. The RTX 2080 Ti is the top dog graphics card, and there is simply no competition to it.

Quick Review: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080Until recently, the RTX 2080 was the middle child in the 2000 series lineup by Nvidia. It's not the case anymore thanks to the introduction of the RTX 2060, but the 2080 can still be considered the card that sits awkwardly between the top dog and the (relatively) more affordable variants.
It's not the best at running videogames at 4K resolution, and it's simply too powerful and arguably redundant for 1440p gaming. Then why go for it? There are several reasons to.
Firstly, this graphics card comes impressively close to the RTX 2080 Ti in performance despite costing around $400 less. Ray tracing is still viable (in the few games that support it) with this graphics card on 1440p, which is where the RTX 2070 struggles. Additionally, this graphics card is much more futureproof.
4K gaming isn't entirely impossible on the RTX 2080 either; the graphics card is more than powerful enough to handle most games even at the highest resolutions. It's with ray tracing enable that it shows its weaknesses when compared to the RTX 2080 Ti, and in some games where max settings are just too taxing.
It's primarily because of the lowered memory bandwidth and RAM size that prevents it from reaching the astounding heights of its bigger brother. Nevertheless, the RTX 2080 is a phenomenal graphics card that will fit in a PC builder's budget if they're unwilling to spend over a grand on the GPU alone.
The reduce performance comes thanks to a lower amount of CUDA cores (even the older 1080 Ti has more CUDA cores), lower tensor cores, and significantly lower ray tracing cores when compared to the 2080 Ti. The exorbitant price hike of the 1080 and 1080 Ti and the dearth in availability of the Vega series of GPUs from AMD makes it the only viable choice for gamers looking to buy a graphics card that guarantees 60fps at 1440p on max settings in any videogame available.
The RTX 2070 admittedly sits in an awkward spot, making it a difficult consideration due to its high pricing. If you're looking for a reliably performing card for 1440p gaming, the RTX 2060 is a cheaper and more viable choice. If you're interested in 4K gaming, the two 2080 cards make more sense.
So, does this make the RTX 2070 a bad card? From a pure performance standpoint, it's certainly not true. The RTX 2070 is an undoubtedly fantastic card, beating the last generation GTX 1080 comfortably in all videogames.
Ray tracing and DLSS are the biggest reasons to prefer it over its direct competitors in terms of performance. The reason to prefer it over the RTX 2060 (which comes at $250 cheaper) is the superior ray tracing performance at 1080p and 1440p that support it. The RTX 2070 has fewer tensor cores for DLSS and 10 ray tracing cores less than the 2080, but its still a more viable card for ray tracing than the RTX 2060.
The problem though is that preferring this card over the RTX 2060 heavily depends on your interest in ray tracing and the future availability of games that feature it. At the moment, only a few titles support ray tracing technology, so for an immediate impact, the difference between the RTX 2070 and RTX 2060 isn't as profound as you'd expect.
One noticeable feature missing from the RTX 2070 is the lack of an SLI pin. Yep, it's no longer possible to run two RTX 2070s at once. Nvidia has continued its trend of slowly easing out SLI support in their graphics cards. We don't think it's a big deal though since you could reach close to buying the 2080 Ti if you have the money for two RTX 2070s.
Runner-Up: AMD Radeon VIIThe recently released AMD Radeon VII promised a lot with its 7nm architecture and advanced features. The product is undoubtedly powerful, surpassing the performance of the RTX 2070 in many videogames and synthetic benchmarks. However, due to lack of availability, the Radeon VII is priced higher than the RTX 2080, which it cannot match in any videogames nor in productivity work.
